United Support of Artists for Africa (1985)

THIS IS NOT A MICHAEL JACKSON ENTRY.

Nevertheless, it was MJ who got my brother interested in this song, who got me EXTREMELY interested in this song. I proclaim my love for studio-recording music videos (e.g. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men - One Sweet Day). So one week after MJ died, I suddenly thought of this song. As I watched the video, I realised how much I love how so many artists parts were recorded and pieced together.

We are the World.

Then I started Wiki-ing about the song again. I found out who sang all the solo parts. Found some interesting notes about the parts which were taken out. Then I went to find the making. After some painstaking search and streaming, I found a 9-part video in English on You Tube. I watched it twice man.

The making of We are the World. Part 1.

Interesting facts I found.
  • MJ skipped the 1985 American Music Awards to come into recording earlier so that they have a guide on the chorus for the recording session. That recording became the footage of the first chorus of the song.
  • The group chorus was recorded next.
  • The solo parts after that.
  • Finally, the solos and duets of the last few choruses.
DAMN NICE.
